What is a wishlist?

A wishlist, gift registry or gift list is simply a list of things a person would like to have. They can be used to make it easy for friends and family to know what a person would like to receive on special occasions, like birthdays, Christmas, weddings and baby showers. Some people also use them to keep track of things they might buy in the future, such as books, clothes or gadgets.

How much does it cost?

It’s completely free. You won’t pay anything, no matter whether you’re making a list or using one to buy something for a loved one.

Can I add products from any website?

Yes. When you add and use the Grateful Goose wishlist button, you will be able to add any item from any online retailer to your list. To find out how to install the button, click here.

Can I use Grateful Goose to make lists for other occasions, like weddings or baby showers?

Of course. Use it for whatever occasion you like!

Can I buy products directly from Grateful Goose?

No- Grateful Goose is simply a platform on which you can list products and ideas. By clicking on an item you will be taken to the retailer website where you can purchase the item directly from them.

Grateful Goose bookmark button

What is a bookmark button?

The Grateful Goose bookmark button is a little icon that you drag into your web browser bookmark toolbar. As you browse the web, if you find a product you like, you can simply click the Grateful Goose bookmark button in your browser toolbar, and a popup box will appear. It will gather the website link, the item name and description from the web page. You can add and edit the information, and then add it to your wishlist.

How do I add the bookmark button to my toolbar?

Please visit the How to page for an explanation of how to add the button to your toolbar.

Can I use the bookmark button on all web browsers?

Yes, the bookmark button should work on all web browsers. Please contact us if you find that this is not the case.

The bookmark button hasn’t picked up some of the product information- what should I do?

The bookmark button will grab as much product information as it can from the web page, but sometimes it won’t be able to get it all. Simply enter and edit information in the boxes before adding it to your wishlist.

I can’t see the bookmark button in my toolbar even though I dragged it in. Where is it?

You may need to go to ‘view’ in your web browser to make the bookmark toolbar visible. Once this is done you should be able to see the Grateful Goose button in the toolbar, below the search bar.

Managing your wishlists

How do I add an item to my list?

Once you’ve created a list, you will need to add the Grateful Goose wishlist button to your web browser (find out how here). Simply click the button on web pages of items you’d like to add, submit it and it will be added to your list.

How do I edit an item on my list?

Log in to your account, go to ‘account management’ in the top right of the web page. Go to your list and click ‘edit’ beside the item.

How do I delete an item from my list?

Log in to your account. Go to your account via the icon in the top right corner of the homepage. Go to your list and click ‘delete’ beside the item.

Can I create more than one list?

Yes, you can create as many as you like.

Do all items have to be purchased to close the list?

No. You can choose to close the list at any time.

Can I delete my lists?

Yes. Go to your list and click ‘delete’ beside the title.

Can I make an international list?

Yes. Your lists are all international as you can invite anyone to access it.

Friends and family

How do I buy something from someone’s list?

Once you’ve signed up and can access their list, click on the item you want to buy and purchase it directly from the retailer.

How do I reserve an item from someone’s list?

Click the ‘reserve’ button beside an item in someone’s wishlist.

What happens when I reserve an item?

Noone else can purchase that item via that link whilst reserved. It acts as a signal to other list subscribers that you want to buy it and gives you the time to do so.

How do I cancel the reservation of an item?

Once you’ve accessed the list containing the reserved item, click the ‘unreserve’ button beside it.

What happens if I forget that I have reserved an item?

You will be reminded via email.

Account management

I can’t log in to my account, what should I do?

If you’ve forgotten your password, please see the next FAQ. If you can’t remember the email address you signed up with or are having other issues, please contact us.

I’ve forgotten my password, how do I retrieve it?

You can retrieve your password by selecting ‘forgotten password?’ on the log in page. Follow the steps to reset your password.

I want to change my password, how do I do this?

Log in to your account and go to ‘my account’ in the top right hand corner of the webpage. Go to 'Settings', click 'Change password'.

How do I change the email address on my account?

Log in to your account and go to ‘my account' in the top right hand corner of the webpage. Go to 'Settings', click 'Change email'.

How do I log out of Grateful Goose?

If you are logged in, you will be able to see a ‘Logout’ button in the top right hand corner of the webpage. Simply click this and the website will log you out.

How do I deactivate my account?

If you would like to deactivate your account, please contact us here. We will then deactivate your account as soon as possible.


Can I manage which emails I receive from Grateful Goose?

Yes- once logged in, go to ‘account management’ in the top right hand corner of the webpage. Go to ‘email preferences’.

How do I manage the frequency of my email notifications?

Once logged in, go to ‘account management’ in the top right hand corner of the webpage. Go to ‘email preferences’.

I’m not receiving email notifications- where are they?

If you haven’t changed your email preferences to not receive emails from us, then check your spam folder. If it is there, add the sender email address to your contact book to make sure they land in your inbox. If you still aren’t receiving them, get in touch here.

How do I unsubscribe from notifications?

Once logged in, go to ‘account management’ in the top right hand corner of the webpage. Go to ‘email preferences’. You can unsubscribe here.


Why should I share my lists?

So that your friends and family have some ideas for what to buy you! Many people struggle with present buying, so by sharing your list, you make it easier for them and make it more likely you’ll receive gifts you really want.

How do I share my lists?

Once you have created a list, you will be asked if you would like to share it. You can also share your list by logging in, going to ‘My wishlists’ and selecting a list. There will be sharing options (via email and social networks) here.

Can I share my list with people who do not currently use Grateful Goose?

Of course- once invited, they will be asked to sign up for a free account so that they can view your list.

Do my friends and family have to sign up to see and buy from my lists?

Yes. It’s free and only takes a minute!


How is my sign up information used?

Your information is kept strictly in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. You can view our privacy policy here.

Who can access my lists?

The only people who can access your list are the ones you authorise. People you invite via email, once signed up, will be able to see your list. Anyone else who wants to view your list will need to sign up for a free account and request access from you. If you accept their invitation to view your list, they will be able to see it’s contents.

How do friends and family find my lists?

The list owner will need to send you the link to their list via email or social networks.

How do people buy from my lists?

Each item added to a wishlist will have a web link you can use to visit the retailer’s website that sells the item. You can then purchase the item directly from that website.

Can I see what items have been bought from my list?

No. We want to keep gift giving a surprise, so you will not know what has been purchased or by whom from your wishlist.

Who can see what has been bought from my list?

List subscribers (your friends and family) will be able to see what each other have reserved and purchased so that people don’t double-buy! It is only the list creator who cannot see what has been bought for them.

Can I see who has bought what from my list?

No. We keep this anonymous so that you as a list creator do not know what has been bought for you or who has bought it.

How can I stop strangers from seeing my wishlist?

Your list will be automatically hidden from individuals who are not permitted to access your wishlist. Individuals you invite to view your list via email will automatically be able to see your list when signed up. However, anyone else will have to request access to view your list from you, which you can allow or deny.

Others in my family use Grateful Goose on the same computer- how do I make sure I add items to my list and not theirs?

The best way to do this is to go to the homepage and see which user is signed in at the top right of the homepage. If it is not you, sign out and sign back in with your account. Once signed in, the wishlist button will add items to your wishlist not anyone else’s.

Shipping/Product information

When will items purchased from my list be delivered?

Item purchase and delivery is dealt with solely and directly with the retailer.

There was a problem with the gift I purchased via the list. Who do I speak to?

The retailer with whom the gift was purchased. Grateful Goose is not associated with any online retailer.

What if the item on someone’s list is out of stock when I go to buy it?

Unfortunately Grateful Goose cannot help with this matter.
